Nancy has been updated for a new generation of comics fans, but still retains the beauty, charm and simple humor of the 1950s. "As a kid, I opened The Hartford Times every day and Nancy is the first strip I remember," recalls Guy Gilchrist, one-half of the cartooning duo that returned Nancy to its legendary style September 3rd, 1995. "The clean style of art was like nothing else and I thought that whoever drew this must be the best artist in the world. I grew up with Nancy like everybody else did and it feels incredible to bring her back in the classic tradition." "Children today don't have much to attract them to the comics page and comic strips keep getting more wordy, introspective and adult in nature," says Brad Gilchrist, the other half of the Nancy creative team. "I'm delighted that United Feature Syndicate has decided to open the door to a strip that can reach children and their parents by offering a simple, funny, 'Nancyesque' view of life in the '90s. What Guy and I are attempting here is to bring the beauty, charm and simple humor of the 1950s Nancy to a new generation of comics fans. Nancy strips were the most complicated, simple strips ever created and Bushmiller was a genius at turning a Nancy situation into a quirky, bizarre and ultimately believable visual gag. Nancy's charm flowed from every inch of the strip: the pacing and timing, the wonderful expressions, the Zen-like quality of Nancy's simplistic world were perfect for kids."
